QII & Indoor Air Quality

Quality Insulation Installation verification happens while the walls are still open. Insulation is inspected for gaps, compression and coverage before drywall goes up, alongside the ventilation checks newer code requires.

Insulation only performs when it is installed properly. A batt compressed behind a wire, a gap at the top plate, or a section that never got filled will quietly undercut the rating the whole assembly was designed around. Once drywall is up, none of it can be seen or corrected without tearing the wall apart.

That is why QII is a staged inspection rather than a single visit. We come out while framing and insulation are exposed, verify the installation against the standard, and document it. We also verify mechanical ventilation and the indoor air quality measures newer code requires, which matter more now that homes are built tighter than they used to be.

What the Testing Involves

  • Framing-stage and insulation-stage inspections
  • Gaps, voids and compression caught before drywall
  • Air barrier and coverage verified against the standard
  • Mechanical ventilation and indoor air quality verification

What You Receive

  • Documented QII verification at each required stage
  • Registered compliance documentation
  • A record of what was corrected before close-in

Common Questions

When do you need to come out?

Twice on most projects: once at framing before insulation, and again after insulation before drywall. Call us as soon as the schedule is set, because the window between insulation and drywall is short.

What happens if insulation fails inspection?

The installer corrects the areas we flag and we verify again. Catching it at this stage costs hours. Catching it later means opening a finished wall.

Is QII required on every job?

No. It is required when the compliance documentation takes credit for it. The CF-1R tells us, and we will confirm before scheduling.
